American Idol: Thoughts from 2 Non-fans
Yesterday, J and I realized that we hadn't seen/heard any of American Idol this season, but still wanted to pick a winner. So, we headed over to their website and watched the performances of the two finalists, Taylor and Katherine. Here are some of our comments:
On AI in general:
J: "The show is this phenomeon that still gets insane ratings, but the people can't sell records."
Ry: It's like, "you spent all your time calling and voting for these jokers, you can't even download their album? Shame on you"
On Katherine:
J: "The girl is a poor man's Kelly Clarkson at best, but I think she's better than this dude."
Ry: "She did a nice job on "I have Nothing" and that is an impossible song to sing. All Whitney songs are pretty tough to sing if you ask me and I have a fabulous voice."
J: "Yeah, Whitney is in the Michael Jackson/Mariah Carey category where talent is directly proportional to the crazy."
On Taylor:
Ry: "The Taylor guy's rendition of Livin for the City is okay, but jeez... nice dancing, dude."
J: "Yeah, the dancing. Oh man, the dancing." (ed. note: You have to see this one for yourself. It is unreal).
J: "I think people actually like him, he's different, like that genre of music? Dunno"
Ry: "Hmmm... interesting. I think it's because people are stupid."
