Long time no Blog!!

Sorry, it's been a while. I'm pleased to report that I am over my sinus infection and am feeling back to normal! Whew! It's almost time to go home, but here are a couple of quick thoughts...

-- Tough loss in fantasy football last week to "Vote For Pedro." I figured with all of the problems they've been having, we had it in the bag, but I guess not. I was looking forward to kicking the crap out of "Team 7" this week, until I realized that practically my whole team has a bye this week. Awesome.

-- J and I went to see "Proof" last week, and it was a pretty good movie. Well acted by Gwyneth, Jake Gyllenhaal & Anthony Hopkins, and kind of an interesting story. Also, for the record, even though I've always had trouble spelling it, I discovered that Gyllenhaal should actually be spelled "H-O-T." :)

-- On a related note, the two women sitting in front of us (mid 30's, totally normal looking) were drinking beer durnig the movie! They brought about 2 bottles of beer each and were drinking them out of those plastic frat party cups. Isn't that totally random? It's not like we were at "Scary Movie" or something... (J and I both determined that if you were going to bring alchohol to a movie, for whatever reason, "Scary Movie" is the kind of movie you'd be watching).

-- No comment on Michigan football. Do they want me to have a heart attack?? Damnit. That was a comment. I take it back!!

-- Check out the Pistons website for some cool-ass pumpkin stencils. (That sentence has never been said before. I'm sure of it). I can't decide between Chauncey or Rip...

More soon,

iTunes Tag

Jess tagged me, so here we go... The rules are as follows: List five songs that you are currently loving. It doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artists, and the songs in your blog, then 'tag' other bloggers/friends to see what they're listening to.

1. "Don't Panic"- Coldplay
2. "Collide"- Howie Day
3. "God Only Knows"- Joss Stone
4. "All Falls Down"- Kayne West
5. "Everything to Me"- Liz Phair

I'm not at the game... Seriously...

For only the 2nd time in the last 9 years, I'm not in the BIG HOUSE for a Michigan game. As it turns out, I do have a sinus infection, and a pretty bad one at that. I'm on antibiotics, but I haven't been on them long enough for me to actually be feeling better. I just figured that a whole afternoon of yelling & cheering in the semi-chilly & windy weather wouldn't do me any favors. For the record though, I feel like the oldest person on earth that I couldn't just buck up and go. I felt OK about it until the game actually started and for a brief second, I was like, "Maybe I could get over there before halftime..." Oh well... maybe I'll do a running game day diary to keep me busy...

1:13PM- Officials get the first replay call correct. Lucky. Slant to Avant again- another first down. Goddamnit. I'm missing it!

1:15PM- Gotta have Hart... 2nd down and 7 and another first down. Also, can I say how glad I am that Nessler & Griese are doing this game instead of Musburger & Danielson. They're quite possibly my least favorite commentating duo, with the exception of Dicky V. and Musburger. (At least Dicky V is off the charts on the unintentional comedy scale... Danielson is just a dick).

1:17PM Coach Malone is calling plays from the sideline. I wonder if that truly makes a difference or if he just got tired of sitting in the box.

1:18PM Disturbing statistic: Michigan is 2nd worst in the Big Ten in Red Zone offense this season. Awesome. Pudge Rivas to kick the FG... GOOD! UM-3, MN-0

1:19PM On the Secondary TV, Joe-pa tells us to have sportsmanship "Before, during & afta the game..."

1:23PM Nessler refers to Minnesota's QB, Cupito as "the guy looking at the wristband"...

1:25PM Cupito just did the thing where you pretend that you're going to throw the ball and the ball just sort of comes out of your hand backwards instead. Nice.

1:26PM Does Coach Carr have a black eye? Seriously-- it looks like he at least has some sort of a scrape under his eye... was there some kind of practice altercation? Interesting. I'm not claiming credit ... I have an alibi. Trust me. GRR!! MN gets a close first down.

1:27PM Fun fact: Average weight of UM offensive line 318. That's an average, folks, and that includes Gabe Watson who you know weighs like 400 big ones.

1:29PM Gabe Watson SMASH... or is it a fumble?? No whistle that I heard... Barringer runs it back for a TD.... WOOO!!! Cheering by yourself on the couch isn't nearly as fun as high fiving your friends... OR NOT. Hold on... reviewing the play. Looks to me like the ball comes out just as the MN player is being thrown backwards... Not sure of the rule on this one though, guys. Decision: Play stands as called... runner's progress stopped, no fumble.

1:31pm MN 4th down & they're going for it. D-up BLUE! IN-COM-PLETE! "This is the claw... we do the claw..." :)

1:34PM While we go on Offense again, I'm going to take a quick break to eat some soup...

2:50PM Halftime- Michigan 13-Minn 10. John Saunders, Craig James & Grimmace (aka Aaron Taylor) give us the updates on scores around the country, and Craig finds a way to work the word "fanny" into the conversation twice. Yikes.

Somewhere during the 3rd quarter, I fall asleep only to wake up around 4:30PM with us tied 20-20, with a non-working stadium clock and Minnesota driving down the field. I feel even sicker than before...

Ending the diary before this gets ugly...

I have a fever... and the only prescription is MORE COWBELL....

-- After yesterday's games, More Cowbell actually has a slight edge over RvG's Superteam going into Monday Night Football. (up by 7 points with no remaining players). Please root against Steve Smith, RvG'sS only player tonight... It would be a great coup to defeat the undefeated, especially given that I have yet to win a game. It'd also be nice to have FFL bragging rights around the apartment once in a while.

-- I don't have to give my "Sports Girl" card back since I was at the mall during the Michigan/MSU game, do I? My mom called after the game to let us know what happened and then we went into our Embassy (ie. MDen) to discuss it with some other fans. Actually, I don't regret TiVo'ing the game and not watching it until I knew the outcome. Not even one bit. In fact, I think I saved myself a possible heart attack and also increased the length of my life considerably. This might be the new away game tradition... Also, for the record, I don't recant my earlier raging about our football team. Even though it's great to have a win, I don't think think that it solves the systemic problems with our team.

-- If anyone's reading this out in AZ, check out my good friend, Corey who is running for Tempe City Council. He's a great guy and (you heard it here first) will be President someday. I can't wait to be part of his Cabinet, or maybe even have him nominate me as a Supreme Court Justice. According to recent news stories, it looks like you don't need any judicial experience to be a SC Justice afterall...

-- I'm almost sure that the cold is back. Is it possible I have allergies instead? I've never had them before, but this is getting ridculous. A little help here?

-- This weekend at T-Diddy's, we had a chance to watch the new HBO show "Extras," brought to you by the comic geniuses behind BBC's "The Office," Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant. Not quite as great as "The Office" but still pretty enjoyable. I loved Steve as Ricky's useless agent and Kate Winslet was pretty funny as well. However, I'm still not convinced that I need to pony up for digital cable yet...

-- Fun Fact: My sister J can't tell the difference between Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro. Seriously. For a million dollars, she couldn't pick one of them out of a line-up. No matter how many times we have the "Robert DeNiro is the dad in 'Meet the Parents' and Al Pacino is the 'Woo-ahh' guy" conversation, she still doesn't get it. One of the funnier things I've seen was how confused she was while watching the movie "Heat" with both actors. She said she just fell asleep because she couldn't figure out what was going on.

-- Song of the day: St. Patrick's Day- John Mayer... for whatever reason, it reminds me of fall and of someone I used to know.
